Our First Day Out And About In Israel

After a very restful Shabbat and a fun Saturday night out in Jerusalem, today the students began the Israel portion of Lev v’Nefesh in earnest. They met their Israel educators, visited Tel Gezer for a short hike and an introduction to their study of the land of Israel, and finished the educational portion of the day at the renewed Tower of David Museum.

Back at the hostel, they had a couple hours of down time before dinner, followed by a logistics meeting, and their first Zone Freetime. They made good use of the time, stocked up on favorite snacks and seem to have quickly become facile at ordering things like sushi, burgers, and pasta through the Wolt delivery service. In short, they have made themselves feel at home, and it’s a great thing to see.

In the meantime, now that we are in Israel and settled here, Magan and I are preparing for a changing of the guard. Magan, who has been an amazing asset to the group, will fly home the same day that Rena Rosen arrives, and I will bid the kids farewell the following day. Being with your kids in Poland was an honor. Being with them here in Israel feels like a privilege – looking forward to all of the amazing experiences that are ahead of them in the coming weeks. Now that we are in Israel, our updates will also shift to about once per week.
