Pre-Calculus Honors is a rigorous, fast-paced course designed for students who have demonstrated strong mathematical ability and are prepared for an advanced level of study. The course begins with an in-depth exploration of pre-calculus topics and transitions into introductory calculus during the latter part of the year.
Students will be actively engaged in problem solving, reasoning, making connections, and communicating mathematical ideas clearly and effectively.

Major topics of study include families of functions such as polynomial, rational, exponential, logarithmic, trigonometric, and inverse trigonometric functions, with an emphasis on analysis, modeling, and multiple representations.
Calculus topics introduced in the second part of the course may include limits, continuity, the derivative, and basic differentiation rules. Throughout the year, students will be challenged to think critically, justify their reasoning, and apply mathematical concepts to increasingly complex problems.
