Deborah happily joined this incredible school in 1990. She holds a master’s degree in education from Fordham University and a bachelor’s degree in education from Buffalo State College. In her 36 years of teaching here, Deborah has served as an associate teacher and a reading specialist. Deborah started her career in first grade, then spent many years in kindergarten, and is now back teaching in first grade.

Deborah enjoys spending quality time with her loving husband and precious rescue dog Bella, as well as visiting with her sister and her sister’s rescue dog. A big shoutout to all rescue dogs! She thoroughly enjoys watching and discussing sports. Deborah’s favorite sports teams are the Celtics, Red Sox, and Buffalo Bills. While growing up in Massachusetts, she was a Patriots fan.

Deborah takes great pride and enjoyment in helping cultivate confident children who are eager to grow and learn. She feels as though she has a true extended family here. This was never more evident than when she battled cancer in 2000; this school community helped provide transportation to and from her treatments in New York City and provided meals for many weeks. Deborah has made many lifelong friends with her colleagues here. She looks forward to many more terrific years at The Leffell School.
