Dr. Ilanit Hoory

Lower School Principal
Dr. Ilanit Hoory is the Lower School principal. Originally from Haifa, Dr.
Hoory received her teaching degree from Oranim College and Kibbutzim College in Israel. She served in the Israeli army as a teacher in Kiryat Shmona. After the army, Dr. Hoory taught math to elementary school students and worked as the administrative director at Ironi Alef High School in Tel Aviv. She moved to the United States in 1993 and started teaching at the Brandeis School in Long Island. She joined The Leffell School in 2000 as a first-grade Limudei Kodesh (Judaic Studies) teacher; she has also served as the Lower School Limudei Kodesh chair, and Lower School assistant principal. In 2011, she completed her master’s degree in instructional technology at Touro College, with concentrations in special education and curriculum development. Dr. Hoory participated in the “Art of Leadership” and “Leading Evolving Vision” Institutes of the Harvard Principals’ Center, a selective leadership-development program at Harvard University’s Graduate School of Education. Dr. Hoory received her doctorate in Jewish educational leadership and innovation at Yeshiva University’s Azrieli Graduate School of Jewish Education. Dr. Hoory is a parent of three adult children living with her family in Harrison, New York. She enjoys cooking, traveling with her family and friends, and sharing her love of Israel.
