Amy Holtzer

Middle School Principal
Amy Holtzer, Middle School principal, has been a part of the Schechter Westchester/Leffell Middle School faculty since 1998. She initially taught sixth-grade English and social studies and was the sixth-grade team leader for seven years. Mrs. Holtzer was the Middle School dean from 2005 until 2009, when she was named Middle School assistant principal, and then, in 2010, Middle School principal. She received a BA in child psychology from the University of Rochester and a JD from Brooklyn Law School. After changing careers, she obtained a New York State teaching certification in childhood education (grades K–6) and received her master's degree in school administration from Manhattanville College. She holds administrative certification from New York State as a school administrator and supervisor (SAS) and a school district administrator (SDA).

Mrs. Holtzer has been involved in Jewish education outside The Leffell School for many years as a Hebrew school teacher, synagogue youth services leader, and teacher at Camp Ramah in Nyack. Having been raised in Westchester, she settled here with her husband and four children, all of whom attended Schechter Westchester. When not at the school, Mrs. Holtzer spends time with her husband and children, enjoying the beach, travel, Shabbat dinners, Mets games, and crossword puzzles.
