Kellen Howell

Co-Director of College Counseling
Kellen joined the Leffell community this year after nine years as the Co-Director of College Guidance for the Little Red School House & Elisabeth Irwin High School (LREI), an independent school in Greenwich Village. Prior to LREI she worked at New York University's Stern School of Business as an Assistant Director in the Dean's Office. She remains connected to NYU as an Adjunct Professor in the Aspire Program, where she teaches college-preparatory courses to aspiring first-generation high school juniors and seniors. Kellen believes that a college counseling office rooted in mindfulness and self-reflection can help students develop self-efficacy in a supportive environment that mitigates anxiety and builds foundational skills for the future. She holds a Bachelor’s Degree from Boston College, where she was a Division I swimmer, an M.Ed. from the Harvard Graduate School of Education, and an M.S. in School Counseling from Hunter College School of Education. Kellen currently lives in Pelham with her husband and two daughters. She loves trying new restaurants, Broadway, and improv comedy.
